Castlegar cooling centres open this weekend

With high temperatures during the day and overnight, Castlegar’s cooling spaces will be open July 20-22, 2024 at four locations:

Kinnaird Church of God – 2404 Columbia Ave.

Castlegar New Life Church – 602-7th Ave.

“Out of the Cold and Connection Centre” Shelter – 1660 Columbia Ave.

Castlegar & District Recreation Centre – 2101-6th Ave.

The spaces will provide air conditioning, seating, washrooms, and drinking water daily from noon to 8:00 p.m. They were selected because of their geographic location in the City (north, mid, south) and proximity to public transit.

During this heat wave, be sure to drink plenty of water, wear light clothing, avoid strenuous activities, and stay in the share or indoors.

Be sure to check on your friends, family, and neighbours, especially those who are elderly or have health conditions. Let’s take care of each other!
