Fatal motor vehicle collision on Highway 22 near Trail

A 53-year-old Grand Forks man has lost his life after his motorcycle collided with a commercial transport truck in Highway 22, near Trail on Saturday around 1pm.

Trail RCMP and BC Highway Patrol officers responded to the call, where it is alleged the rider was on his motorcycle southbound on Highway 22 when he veered into the oncoming lane and struck the front of a commercial transport truck.

The truck driver attempted to veer out of the way but was not successful.

The motorcyclist was believed to have been killed on impact. The truck driver was shaken up over the incident but believed to be uninjured.

Trail RCMP, with support from BC Highway patrol, conducted an investigation at the scene and the highway remained closed for several hours.

The incident occurred in an active construction zone; however, it was not believed to be a factor in the cause of the incident.
