Local Trans Canada Trail route becoming more defined

Our regional part of the ambitious cross-country Trans Canada Trail is taking shape.

While the final exact route is yet to be confirmed Sangita Sudan with the RDCK says it incorporates many local recreation amenities.

The trail will come from the East Kootenay over Gray Creek pass on the East Shore of Kootenay Lake, over the ferry, along the North Shore highway into Nelson, before heading out to Castlegar.

The route will also feature a link to Trail.

Local trails organisations and corporate sponsors are involved in helping to improve the route in time for the planned national 150th birthday celebrations in 2017.
