One of the longest serving Mayors in our area in recent times is calling it a day.
Trail’s Dieter Bogs – who was elected as the City’s leader in 1997 – will retire after November’s municipal election.
He says he joined politics 26 years ago because he was watching Council on T.V and they were discussing the idea of cutting back on long term planning.
He hopes to be remembered for helping fix what he calls Trail’s incredible image problem in the 1990s.
Bogs says at least one candidate is expected to announce ltheir intentions to run for the job later today
