Midway RCMP discover ‘shatter’ lab in rural Beaverdell

RCMP officials say a search warrant of a rural property in Beaverdell led to the discovery of a clandestine laboratory; used for the production of a chemically concentrated cannabis extract commonly referred to as shatter.

A press release from Midway RCMP stated that police have been investigating the possible laboratory since early 2024.

Following an investigation, a search warrant was obtained and executed on Mar. 27.

The RCMP Federal Clandestine Laboratory Enforcement Response team and the Forensic Identification Section were called to the property to help mitigate and disassemble the lab due to its hazardous nature.

The investigation is ongoing and police are still gathering evidence.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Midway RCMP at 250-449-2244 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
