Jarrid Constantin sought in Trail crash

Trail RCMP say charges have been approved against a man accused of fleeing from police and crashing his car in October.

Jarrid Richard Constantin, 44, faces counts of fleeing from police, dangerous driving, and mischief. A warrant is out for his arrest.

Police say finding him is a high priority and they would like your help finding him. They add he’s known to frequent downtown Trail and may be in disguise.

Early on Oct. 22, police spotted Constantin driving in the 800 block of Victoria Street. An officer tried to pull him over on previous warrants. However, they say he took off.

Although police didn’t chase after him, they soon discovered he had crashed into a retaining wall on private property near Highway 3B and McBride Street. Despite the vehicle being heavily damaged, they say he drove away slowly. An officer followed until he began driving down the wrong side of the road.

Man accused of punching officer

Trail RCMP are asking for charges against a 20-year-old man after an officer was punched in the face.

Police say late Friday they responded to a reported fight between two drunk men at Carnation Drive and Lily Street.

One of the men was on the ground, throwing up, and was in and out of consciousness when officers got there. They called an ambulance but the man refused medical treatment and tried to leave by walking into oncoming traffic.

He was then arrested the man for being drunk in public. That’s when he’s alleged to have punched the officer.

The man was eventually brought under control and taken to hospital for assessment, then jailed until he sobered up.

“Assaulting an officer in the course of his duty is a serious criminal offence,” Sgt. Mike Wicentowich said in a news release.

“My officers remained professional through the entire incident even after the assault. Our police officers often put themselves in harm’s way to protect the public. I am very proud on the way these officers conducted themselves through this incident.”

Near-miss with a police cruiser

A 67-year-old Trail woman received a 24-hour roadside ban after going through a red light and nearly hitting a police car.

Police say it happened Sunday afternoon at Pine and Victoria Streets.

An officer pulled the woman over and asked for a breath sample which resulted in a warn. The woman’s vehicle was also impounded for a number of defects.

Teetering on the brink

A single-vehicle crash at Carnation Drive and Highway 3B in Trail on Saturday afternoon left a vehicle teetering on the edge of an embankment.

Police say the 21-year-old driver slid off the road, likely due to heavy snow and icy roads.

Police helped the woman out of her vehicle and paramedics and firefighters did a medical assessment.
