The Regional District of Central Kootenay has issued a boil water notice for users on the West Robson water system.
The system is on Broadwater Road on the western border of Robson-Raspberry, downstream of the Hugh Keenlyside Dam.
The RDCK says the notice has been issued as a precaution due to the depressurization of the water main during emergency repairs.
The RDCK and Interior Health recommend that all customers drink boiled water or a safe alternative until further notice.
Water intended for drinking, washing fruits and vegetables, making beverages or ice, or brushing teeth should be boiled for one minute. Boiled water should then be refrigerated in a clean, covered container. Customers could also choose to use bottled or distilled water.
The system draws its water from two wells and has 114 active connections, including two trailer parks.
A recent study by Selkirk Innovates found more than 200 water systems in the Kootenay-Boundary were subject to some sort of advisory as of June.
