Last month was 2.5 degrees warmer than normal in Castlegar, according to a monthly round-up of weather statistics from the Southeast Fire Centre.
Forecaster Jesse Ellis says the mean temperature for the month was 19.3 degrees, compared to the typical 16.8, although it fell well short of the record high of 21.3 set in 2021.
The hottest day of the month was the 8th, when the thermometer hit 35 degrees, also well below the record high of 43.9 set on June 30, 2021.
The coolest day of the month was the 22nd when it got down to 6.6 degrees. The record low for the month is 1.6 set on June 11, 2008.
Rainfall for the month was 37 per cent below normal with only 45.4 millimeters, compared to the usual 72.3 millimeters. The record low of 12.7 millimeters dates to 1974.
Ellis noted the warmest weather came in the first eight days of the month followed by cooler temperatures and showers or thundershowers most days for the next two weeks before conditions returned to hotter temperatures and sunnier skies.
