Trail RCMP will be asking for criminal charges against a driver who failed to stop for them early Sunday.
Police say an officer tried to pull over a 2019 Ford Transit van for driving erratically, failing to signal, and speeding in the 700 block of Victoria Street. But the driver kept going.
With help from colleagues in Nelson, police believe they have since identified the driver and passenger.
Prohibited driver caught and fined
RCMP pulled over a van going east over the Victoria Street bridge without valid insurance on Friday morning.
The 68-year-old Trail man who was driving didn’t have a valid license and was prohibited from driving in BC. He was issued a roadside prohibition, fined nearly $875, and had his vehicle impounded for up to a week.
Does she seem out of place?
Police say they received a report of a woman in a hospital gown with an oxygen tube hanging from her nose walking across the Victoria Street bridge on Saturday morning.
An officer located her downtown and gave her a ride back to the hospital.
“She did not miss her appointment at the hospital, thanks to our officer,” Sgt. Mike Wicentowich said.
If you can’t play nice …
An errant golf ball sparked a dispute Saturday at the Redstone course in Rossland.
Police say a 50-year-old Rossland man and his group were playing the course when a ball sailed over them and landed nearby.
In frustration, the man returned the ball by hitting it back with his club to the group behind him. It caused some hard feelings between the two groups and the man began getting angry texts from the other group.
He contacted police, who diffused the situation.
“Men and their balls,” Wicentowich quipped.
