Castlegar airport 97% reliable in May

There was only one flight cancellation at the West Kootenay Regional Airport in May, making for a 97 per cent reliability rate.

Airport manager Maciej Habrych also told city council this week the daily flights were 66 per cent full, which is an increase over recent months. More people were flying out than flying in.

Habrych also said construction season has started at the airport. The apron expansion project is underway with the removal of an underground fuel tank. The airport is moving to using fuel trucks as a standard practice, which he explained is now the industry norm.
