B.C. to raise minimum wage by $1.10

B.C.’s minimum wage is going to increase from $15.65 to $16.75 on Thursday.

Provincial government officials said the 6.9 per cent increase will also apply to rates for resident caretakers, live-in home-support workers and live-in camp leaders.

The increase will impact about 150,000 workers across B.C., with the same raises coming on Jan 1, 2024 for piece rates for the hand-harvesting of certain crops.

“Government has made regular, gradual increases to the minimum wage to provide certainty for workers and predictability for businesses,” said B.C. government officials. “Options are being developed to continue to fulfil government’s commitment to tie minimum wage to inflation for future years.”
