Smokies sign D-man Patrick Reilly

The Trail Smoke Eaters have signed a Patrick Reilly for the 2023-24 season.

Reilly, 18, from Avon, New Jersey, is set to join the Smoke Eaters defensive core after an impressive year playing at Christian Brothers Academy (USHS-NJ) and New Jersey Rockets (18U AAA).

The six-foot-one defenceman put up a combined 61 points in 54 games. Patrick served as an assistant captain and was named Conference MVP with the Christian Brothers Academy.

He also split his time this season in the USHL with the Sioux City Musketeers and is committed to an Ivy League program with Princeton University.

“We look forward to adding Patrick to our blueline and our program for the upcoming season,” GM and head coach Tim Fragle said in a news release. “We think he can really add to our overall depth on defence and expect him to play an important role in all situations.”

“I am extremely grateful for the opportunity from coach Fragle to play in a great town, in front of dedicated fans,” Reilly said. “I can’t wait to get started.”

Reilly is the fourth signing by the Smokies in the last week.
