Man beaten in Trail alley

RCMP say a 49-year-old Trail man was left with serious injuries after being assaulted by three men in an alley in the 900 block of Spokane Street.

They say the incident happened Sunday evening. Police found the man on the ground. He told them he’d been beaten by a man and two accomplices while he was taking his garbage out to the dumpster in the alley.

He was allegedly punched in the head several times, may have lost consciousness, and had a serious shoulder injury. He was taken to hospital for treatment.

Officers arrested a 52-year-old Trail man who will make a first court appearance on June 22. Police say the victim and attacker knew each other. The other two men haven’t been arrested and police are asking for anyone who witnessed the attack or knows who the pair are to contact them.

Crash leads to impaired investigation

A 70-year-old Beaver Valley man is under investigation following a crash off Bluebird Road outside of Fruitvale on Sunday.

Police say they responded to a report that a truck went off the road and crashed through a fence. It was reportedly stuck in a ditch.

Officers found the man asleep in the truck. Officers woke him up and thought he was drunk. He failed a breath test and was jailed overnight until he sobered up.
