UPDATED: 2 pulled from Trail crash

Firefighters extracted two people from a vehicle following a two-vehicle crash near Waneta Plaza in Trail.

The incident happened shortly before 2 p.m. today at the intersection of Devito Drive and Highway 3B.

Police say a 42-year-old Trail man in his 2016 RDX Acura SUV was waiting in the intersection to turn onto Devito Drive when his vehicle was struck by a 2002 Pontiac Sunfire driven by a 34-year-old Castlegar woman.

Officers believed the woman was speeding and failed to stop for a yellow light before  entering the intersection.

Firefighters extracted two people from the wrecked Sunfire within nine minutes of arriving.

In all six people needed medical treatment as a result of the crash, although there was no immediate word on their condition.

Trail RCMP and the BC Highway Patrol continue to investigate.
