North Castlegar homes without water

The City of Castlegar says it will be working today to fix a water main break that has left homes on the north end with dry taps.

The city says the break happened Sunday and affects Arrow Lakes Drive, Lakeview Street, Ferry Avenue, Prince Avenue, and Short Avenue.

Crews shut off the water to stop the leak while they determined what repairs are required.

“Unfortunately, significant repairs are required,” the city said, and they were not able to resume repairs until this morning.

Residents will remain without water until the fix is completed.

“The City apologizes for the inconvenience and appreciates residents’ patience while the repairs are completed,” the city said in a news release.
