West Kootenay Traffic services is continuing to investigate last week’s fatal crash in Trail that claimed the life of a local woman.
79 year old Maria Sodini succumbed to her injuries at Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital after the incident at the intersection of 2nd Avenue and Highway 3B Tuesday afternoon.
RCMP Constable John Rennie says originally it wasn’t considered a serious accident and it definitely wasn’t the most violent crash he’s seen.
However, he says any side impact is treated as serious because vehicle safety isn’t designed for side collisions.
Rennie says it’s unclear if charges will be laid but they are trying to determine what stage the traffic lights were at when the vehicle was making a left turn.
