Local MLA defends travel expenses

Nelson-Creston MLA Michelle Mungall is defending her spending on travel partners.
A report says Mungall spent $7800 on eight Victoria trips last year for her husband and staff.
Under legislature rules MLA’s can have up to 12 such trips per year, but her spending topped all others.
She says most of those in the top ten are from rural areas, so it’s no surprise that rural MLAs often incur the most expenses while travelling to and from their home constituencies and Victoria.
Mungall says the bulk of her costs was for staff attending training in Victoria.
In some cases their flights were cancelled and they had find alternate routes home.
