Trail RCMP seeking witnesses in bear spray attack

RCMP in Trail want to hear from anyone who saw a woman who was bear sprayed at a bus stop near Walmart.

Police say the incident happened around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday. The victim was a 48-year-old Castlegar woman who was taken to hospital.

She wasn’t able to provide a clear description of whoever did it and police don’t know what the motive was. No one else was injured.

Police want to speak to anyone who might have seen it happen.

Roadside relief

A 30-year-old Kelowna man suspected of impaired driving gave a breath sample to Trail RCMP, but not before taking a long pee in front of an officer.

Police say the incident happened Sunday evening on Highway 3B near Rossland. An officer pulled the man over and smelled alcohol on his breath.

However, police say “the man decided to relieve himself for an extended period in front of the officer.”

Afterward, he provided the breath sample that resulted in a fail. He was issued a 90-day roadside prohibition and had his truck impounded for up to 30 days.

“Some drivers appear to be more obviously impaired than others during investigations,” Sgt. Mike Wicentowich quipped in a news release.
