A 29-year-old Trail man trapped between his vehicle and a gate yelled for hours before someone finally heard him and called for help, RCMP say.
The incident on Lookout Street on Sept. 13.
Police say the man was in front of his vehicle, checking his engine, while it was in neutral. The vehicle rolled forward, pinning his leg against the gate.
Although he called for help, it wasn’t until 3 a.m. that a nearby resident reported his yelling to the RCMP.
Firefighters used a specialized tool to free him. He was taken to hospital for treatment.
Woman accused of spitting at police officer
Police say a 39-year-old Trail woman is expected to face charges of assaulting and threatening to kill a police officer.
They were called one evening this month to the 700 block of Victoria Street to a report of an aggressive panhandler.
A woman had been knocking on windows of vehicles in a drive-thru lane and demanding money.
An officer arrested the woman for causing a disturbance. But she’s accused of resisting arrest, spitting on the officer, and uttering death threats.
She was released on conditions pending a court appearance.
Bear breaks in to home
A black bear broke into a home in the Gulch in Trail this month to dine on garbage.
Police say they received a “frantic report” just before 5 a.m. on Sept. 16 from the 200 block of Railway Avenue.
The occupants hid inside the home until police arrived. An officer scared the bear off as he approached the property. Police say the bear had strewn garbage inside and outside the home. The occupants were asked to clean it up to prevent a repeat.
Alcohol suspected in Rossland crash
Police issued a 61-year-old Trail man with a 90-day roadside ban after his Honda Accord crashed on Highway 3B near Red Mountain.
Police say it happened early on Sept. 16. An officer arrived to find the vehicle suffered serious front-end damage and was blocking the highway. The man was found a short distance a way.
The officer suspected the man was impaired and asked him to provide a breath sample that resulted in a fail.
In addition to the driving ban, the car was impounded for up to 30 days.
