Woman dies following Trail highway crash

Trail RCMP confirm a 31-year-old city woman has died as a result of a two-vehicle crash on Highway 3B at Glenmerry.

They say they received notification of her death on the morning of Sept. 9 of her death, but didn’t share the information until today. The investigation has been referred to the BC Coroners Service.

The crash occurred early in the evening of Sept. 6 near the Glenwood Motel and closed the highway for about five hours, although a detour was available.

The woman’s Honda Civic crossed the centre line and hit an oncoming Dodge pick-up truck driven by a 41-year-old Montrose man. Both he and another 31-year-old woman who was a passenger in the first vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Both vehicles were write-offs.

Police suspect the woman who died may have been under the influence of illicit drugs.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated incident, two people were treated by paramedics after a crash this morning at Highway 22 and Stony Creek Road, which is the entrance to Tadanac.

Regional fire and rescue says both people were out of their vehicles when they arrived just before 5 a.m.
