Winterfest remains cancelled:organizing committee

The organizers of Winterfest in Castlegar have issued a statement saying the event remains cancelled.

In part it says they’ll continue to work with volunteers over the next year to ensure the 2015 event is memorable.

The committee says after discussion and consideration of a different location they determined it was too short notice to re-arrange the parade, tree lighting and festivities.

They say the aim of the community event is for all to gather at City Hall and downtown Castlegar to mix and mingle.
