CUPE Castlegar issues full strike notice

Castlegar’s unionized city employees have issued 72 hours notice of full strike action.

CUPE Local 2262 President Leford Lafayette said in a press release that following Monday night’s presentation to council it is clear officials do not want to get back to the bargaining table.

The union members were offered a 6.1% wage increase over the term of the contract.

However city employees felt their concerns around job security language were not met.

Full strike action is set to start Saturday.
