Nelson open burn period announced

The Nelson Fire Department is outlining some guidelines for their upcoming two week burn period.

Residents will be able to burn difficult-to-access yard waste such as tree clippings from this Saturday till the 26th – excluding Easter Sunday.

Fire Chief Simon Grypma says it is important anyone who is burning follow the Ministry of Environment’s Venting Index.

Grypma says residents also have to follow City bylaws and obtain a permit – which can be done at the Fire Hall.
