Not surprisingly bear sightings are on the increase in the upper forest interface areas of Nelson.
The police department says they had several calls over the weekend regarding bears in the Uphill, Rosemont and Fairview areas.
The department is reminding residents they can report bears to them or the conservation rapp line.
The city has bylaws in place that can lead to fines for residents who leave out garbage or attractants.
