RDCK backs new provincial recycling player

The chair of the RDCK expects the government to allow a new player to enter the provincial recycling market.

And John Kettle supports that because the sole operator – Multi Material BC  – has failed rural areas in not rolling out the paper and packaging program .

And he figures the liberal government should not be encouraging a monopoly.


The new player Stewardchoice Producer Solutions says it can plug the service gaps.

MMMC has not fully rolled out in rural BC meaning taxpayers are still paying for recycling costs while urban centres -including Castlegar and Nelson – are not.
