RDCK hears pitch from new recycling company

The RDCK has heard from the company that promises it can fill the gaps left by the poor roll-out of the MMBC (Multi Material BC) paper and packaging recycling program.

Neil Hastie with Stewardchoice Producer Solutions told the board via phone line that it will secure money from the paper producers -as MMBC does- and work with smaller communities.

MMMBC  -which is currently a monopoly -has not met the needs of our rural areas meaning taxpayers still pay for recycling costs when other urban centres now get it for free.

Stewardchoice wants the RDCK to support their call to the government to allow competition.
