Public-councillor tension at Castlegar council

The pre-election period plus a labour dispute are making for a volatile mix at Castlegar council.

One resident made a point during this week’s question period after learning the salary of City Manager John Malcolm.

Councillor Deb McIntosh was the first to voice her opposition to those comments calling them “BS” at the time.

She admits she reacted heatedly but doesn’t regret it.

The citizen was seated with councillor candidates Bruno Tassone and John Phillips .

The question was posed as Castlegar’s unionized employees are at loggerheads with the City over wages and job security.
