Castlegar phone system gives up ghost

The City of Castlegar is calling in repairs for municipal buildings after residents were hung up on last month.

Staff were forced to use emergency financial provisions after their phone system crashed disconnecting many calls abruptly and continuing to cause problems til this week.

Councillor Kevin Chernoff says a new system was included in the 2014 budget but they’re having to put it in place earlier than expected .

Chernoff says all the glitches should be ironed out by the end of the week.

Fixes have been made to City Hall and Public works with repairs set for the Fire Hall tomorrow.
