Castlegar CUPE worker impasse continues

The labour impasse between the city of Castlegar and its unionized workers continues.

The CUPE local has rejected a mediated contract offer saying job security language and salary issues have still not been addressed.

The workers already have a ban on overtime but President of the local Leford Lafayette is not setting any timelines on escalating job action.


Lafayette says they’re looking for a 2% per year wage increase when the city is offering less.

Also they want job security language that guarantees managers can’t take their work.
