Nelson Commons redevelopment almost ready to go

Looks like we’ll have to wait about a few weeks longer to get confirmation the proposed Nelson Commons redevelopment in the downtown is a go.

It’s tantalisingly close now for the $26 million vision of the Kootenay Co-Op board of having a large mixed use residential and new grocery store site.

Project Manager Russell Precious says their goal of 34 pre-sales of the 54 units has been achieved and last moment financial matters need to be finalised.

But he’s confident they’re in a good spot.

…those players include Van City, the Columbia Basin Trust, Nelson and District Credit Union and other private equity partners.

They’re still aiming for a pre-Christmas demolition of the old Extra Foods site with the build completed by Spring of 2016.
