Union local wants public to talk to teachers

A BC Teachers Federation local is calling on the public to get more engaged in their quest for more public funding and a fair collective agreement.

Andy Davidoff with the Kootenay Columbia Teachers Union has made a public plea for parents to talk to their child or grandchild’s teachers about the supports needed to help students.

Davidoff says teachers are looking for what other public sector employees have got recenty.

Their figure is not clear but the government claims the BCTF wants a 13.5 % increase over three years.

The government is offering 7% over the first 6 years of a 10 year deal.

Rotating job action is possible if no deal is made.
