BC mayors call for mental health/addictions resources

A big statement from local governments on the plight they’re facing with mental health and addiction issues.

The BC Mayors Caucus – meeting on the first day of the Union of BC Municipalities convention in Whistler – has called on the provincial government to come up with the resources to tackle what is their responsibility.

Nelson mayor John Dooley says mayors are united on this major issue that is hurting local government and communities.


Among their demands the Mayors Caucus wants urgent long term residential care beds for people with severe addictions and mental illnesses.
