Possible investments into the dock at the Balfour Ferry terminal has prompted the Ministry of Transportation to do a feasibility study that could result in relocation.
This from the Ministry who are confirming the study is in the preliminary stages and does not have a time frame established yet.
District Highways Manager Hugh Eberle explains one thing that helped spur this “low level” study was damage to one of the ferry every time it arrives at the terminal.
Eberle says no alternate routes for the ferry have been determined and all ideas are just speculation at this point.
The local rural director says the community expects to be consulted if there is any headway in discussions to move the ferry terminal.
Area E’s Ramona Faust says if it moved to Queens Bay both communities would of course be impacted.
