RDCK directors threw all their frustrations at the Ministry of Environment’s representative to the controversial Multi Material BC program Thursday morning.
The program has not been rolled out in the RDCK yet partly because MMBC doesn’t have the money because several producers of packaging and printed paper have not yet signed on.
RD Chair John Kettle says that continues to leave local taxpayers paying for recycling when it should be free – as is now the case in the lower mainland.
In a presentation to the RD the Ministry’s rep acknowledges the program – which is supposed to be fully financed by the producers- has many flaws but they’re working on it.
