So says the Chair of the Lower Columbia Community Development Team Society Mike Martin after this week’s news of a new Rural Family Medicine Residency Program being launched in the Kootenay Boundary by UBC.
Martin says they undertook a work force renewal intiative a few years ago that they saw as a key element to building these capacities in the region.
The new medical program is a two year initiative hat will see four students receive enhanced hands-on experience.
It will also look to recruit physicians to rural areas.
