Alleged armed robber to make first court appearance

The man charged in connection with a rash of armed robberies in our area makes his first court appearance in Nelson Tuesday.

Andrew Stevenson – along with partner Krista Kalmikoff – is charged in connection with two robberies in the Queen City in April as well as break and enter of two pharmacies in Castlegar.

33 year old Stevenson has also been charged in connection with the armed hold-ups at Johnny’s Grocery in Robson and the Kootenay Savings Credit Union in Castlegar in March.

26 year old Kalmikoff is out on bail and has elected a jury trial.

Stevenson has yet to enter a plea and has not been in court partly because he was injured during his arrest following the robbery of the Nelson Credit Union April 25th.
