Limited medical pot grow-op applicants in RDCK

Health Canada may be inundated with applications for medical marijuana grow-op facilities but not so much from our region.

Sungita Sudan with the RDCK says they’ve received only around a dozen initial requests.

Before going through the federal approval process interested parties must get confirmation from the RD that they are indeed on land zoned for agriculture.

Sudan figures the costs of setting up the large commercial scale sites is probably prohibitive in our region.

Health Canada is receiving around 25 applications a week from across the nation.
