Castlegar and CUPE in media blackout

No comment from the CUPE local regarding upcoming mediation talks in Castlegar.

President Leford Lafayette says both parties have agreed to a media black out.

The talks resume September 15th.

Castlegar’s 34 civic employees are refusing to work any overtime as the dispute over pay and job security language continues. But unionized employees are being paid for ‘standby’ shifts.

Lafayette says this is to ensure a professional response to any 24/7 emergency calls.
