Counterpetition process underway in two RDCK communities

Nakusp area and Ymir residents are currently being asked about establishing two new services.

There’s currently an Alternative Approval Process (APP) launched in Nakusp and a portion of Area K. It would establish a grant-in-aid service for the Arrow Lakes Historical Society Archives to cover operating expenses. It would generate up to $24,000 which breaks down to $16.11 for a home valued at $300,000.

In Ymir, the new service would create funds to operate and maintain the cemetery. The amount generated is $3,000 which means $18 for a property assessed at $300,000.

At least 10 per cent of electors must petition against the proposal prior to the deadline, which is November 14 at 4:30pm for Ymir residents and November 13 at 4:30pm for Nakusp and area residents.
