The Take back the Night March will be underway in Castlegar Thursday, October 4. It starts from the Canadian Tire parking lot at 5:30pm, making its way over to Safeway.
It’s organized by Castlegar’s Violence Against Women in Relationships committee and everyone is invited to join.
It’s an international annual event with the original purpose being to protest the violence women experienced walking in public at night. The mission has expanded to encompass all forms of violence against all persons, though sexual violence against women is still a top focus.
Following the march are speakers, presentations and entertainment. Participants can bring noise makers, signs, and banners.
