Trail City Councillors acclaimed after one candidate withdraws

Six candidates for Trail City Council have been acclaimed after Ronald Joseph withdrew is nomination yesterday. Corporate Administrator and Chief Elections Officer for the City of Trail Michelle McIssac explains. “Because we are down to six and we have a council size of six, the other candidates that submitted nomination packages will be acclaimed for the office.”

There are two new faces on council, Colleen Jones and Paul Butler. The incumbents are Robert Cacchioni, Carol Dobie, Eleanor Gattafoni Robinson and Sandy Santori.

McIssac says it’s not something she’s seen happen. “We’ve always had a race for council, I think I’d have to go back many, many elections to see if, in fact, there’s been an election without a race for council.”

Residents will still vote on the school trustee and mayoral candidates.
