Local schools won't open Tuesday:Superintendent

Local schools won’t open for a new year on Tuesday even if there is a last ditch labour deal between the BC Teachers Federation and government.

This from Kootenay Lake Superintendent Jeff Jones.

He says there needs to be organisational and preparation time for teachers and principals and to get actual classrooms ready.

For example some teachers who retired or transferred were impacted by the abrupt end to the school year in June.

Jones says parents should stay tuned to local radio and media.

He expects any decision to return to work – if it happens- to include how many prep days are needed before school doors open.
