Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire and Rescue have responded to two separate fires since yesterday evening. The first was a vehicle fire on Seven Mile Dam Road. Firefighters responded just before 7:00pm, on Thursday, September 6 to find a fully involved vehicle with the fire spreading across a grassy bank on the side of the road. It was quickly extinguished.
Then, at roughly 4:30 this morning crews arrived at Retrieve Technologies on Highway 22 in Trail. Fire Captain Greg Ferraby says containers of recycled battery material ignited under a storage canopy. The cause is listed as undetermined.
The incident was under control within an hour.
