Santa Rosa fire now fully guarded and evacuation alert rescinded

An evacuation alert has been rescinded for 33 addresses in Santa Rosa and Big Sheep Creek southwest of Rossland. The Regional District of Kootenay Boundary issued the update Wednesday morning, saying the Santa Rosa wildfire is now fully guarded and will be classified as under control by the BC Wildfire Service this evening. As of yesterday, the fire was estimated at 377 hectares on the BC side of the border.

There are no addresses on evacuation alert now within the RDKB, however, the Emergency Operations Centre will remain activated at Level 1 to monitor wildfire activity as an extended warm and dry period is expected, with a chance of lightning today.
