BC trustees seek compromise in teachers labour dispute

With less than a week till the school year is supposed to start the BC School Trustees Association is calling on both sides of the labour dispute to move on the numbers and put students first.

President Teresa Rezansoff is repeating her message that the government’s $40 -a-day childcare offering to parents would be better spent in schools.

She’s also calling teacher demands for increased benefits, the workload fund and the $5,000 signing bonus unaffordable.

But she admits there are many complex layers.

She says behind all the numbers there are over half a million students waiting to get back to school next week.
