The Syringa Creek wildfire is now estimated at over 1,400 hectares. The BC Wildfire Service says better visibility of the fire was experienced yesterday allowing for a new fire perimeter to be obtained. As smoke dissipates, the fire will become more visible from surrounding communities including Castlegar. It is burning in steep and unworkable terrain for ground crews and heavy equipment. Aviation resources will be engaged, as visibility allows, to lay retardant. Currently, natural geographical features are acting as fuel breaks. An evacuation alert remains for all of Syringa Provincial Park and southeast along Lower Arrow Lake to the Hugh Keenleyside Dam in Robson.
The Deer Creek wildfire is estimated at 1,057 hectares and the Bull Dog Mountain fire is over 1,145 as of yesterday evening. The McArthur Creek wildfire southeast of Salmo has grown to an estimated 555 hectares and the China Creek wildfire west of Genelle is now at 28 hectares.

In the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary, crews continue to make progress on the Santa Rosa Wildfire between Rossland and Christina Lake. Yesterday, the RDKB said some burn off operations were undertaken on the Canadian side, with reported great success. The area of the fire within BC is estimated at 359 hectares. 63 firefighters and 12 pieces of heavy equipment are working on the Canadian side with containment lines on the north flank being fortified.
Update: An evacuation alert has been rescinded in the Granby River valley north of Grand Forks. 25 addresses were put on alert due to the Lynch Creek wildfire. The RDKB says the fire is now fully contained and classified as under control by the BC Wildfire Service. All properties from the junction of Miller Creek Forest Service Road to Kilometer 34 on North Fork Road are no longer on evacuation alert.
The Kettle River Fire south of Midway in the US is now 100 per cent contained.
