Power outage at Teck causes social media scare

Alarms were heard at Teck Trail Operations last night due to an unplanned power outage in the lead smelter. Community Relations Leader, Catherine Adair, says there was no fire as was rumoured on social media.

The power was restored at about 1:00am, and operations are returning to normal. She says there was no risk to public safety and SO2 levels remained within normal variability.

A full investigation is underway.
