Rossland okays snow making for Red

Red Mountain has the all clear to make snow after securing the formal approval from Rossland city council this week.

As mayor Greg Granstrom explains the Official Community Plan (OCP) did not allow snow making.

But that has now been amended to allow water to be taken from the Star Gulch reservoir.


Granstrom says the water use agreement enshrines the city’s ability to shut down the water supply if need be.

The snow making will be a major boon for the Red Mountain Racers team for early season training and competitions but of course all visitors will benefit too.
