New era at Kaslo's Health Centre

The Regional Director for rural Kaslo remains positive despite the move to reduced hours at the local health centre.

24/7 service ended earlier this week because of the ongoing doctor shortage.

IH hopes this will help attract the sort of new doctor recruits who don’t want to work long hours.

Andy Shadrack is convinced after-hours ER service can return and notes a Nelson doctor already stepped forward to do that at their long-term health care facility.

Shadrack says an out of town ER specialist has already offered digital tele-health assistance and those options need to be explored once a core of new doctors is in place.
