Castlegar council has unanimously approved moving ahead with the construction of the paved pathway around a neighborhood near the Community Complex.
This despite some local opposition.
Councillor Sue Heaton-Sherstobitoff does not share the concerns.
Some homeowners fear the path could become a noisy hang-out but Heaton-Sherstobitoff says it will be a family public amenity for walking and biking.
There’s also concern about trees being cut down.
She adds the city will engage with neighbours to show them the plans and how very few trees are being removed when work starts next month.
